Banana Berry Smoothie


Whether we’re wanting a quick meal on the go after a daily workout at the gym or we’re looking for an easy after school snack for the kids, smoothies are super simple to make and even more delicious to enjoy. Smoothies are great for breakfast, lunch and sometimes even dinner.

We tend to associate smoothies with being healthy, but a healthy smoothie is not always a guarantee. Like most foods, healthy isn’t only defined by the meal itself, but more importantly, the ingredients. Some store bought smoothies are loaded with added sugar and are void of any real substantial nutrition. Not to mention, they can be quite expensive! An easy way to avoid paying for an overpriced store bought smoothie, that may or may not provide adequate nutrition, is by making a homemade smoothie with fresh flavor and fiber. How? By including Hellowater®.

Homemade Smoothies with Hellowater®

One of the best things about homemade smoothies is we can make them entirely on our own with whatever ingredients we have available in the kitchen. (The smoothie struggle can be so real some days). Most smoothies use coconut water, fruit juice or milk as a base. Some people prefer classic cow’s milk while others opt for a plant-based alternative like nut milk, oat milk or seed milk.

Our first instinct has always been to grab fruit juice like apple juice or orange juice, but both are naturally higher in sugar content. Plain water is another easy option, but let’s be real, it’s way too dilutive and makes the fresh fruit flavors less fruity. What else can be used for a smoothie base? Enter hellowater®.

Fiber Infused Water

Not only does hellowater® keep the sweet in the smoothie, without adding any additional sugar, it helps create the perfect smoothie consistency. Not too watery, but not too thick. If you’re looking for a super simple recipe to try using hellowater®, try this original recipe for a Banana Berry Smoothie.


  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup Pineapple Coconut hellowater® or any of your favorite hellowater® flavors
  • 1 cup fresh mixed berries like black berries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries (Shop local and support your community’s farmers whenever possible).
  • 1-2 scoops of high quality collagen or protein powder – Optional
  • ¼ cup quality fat like an avocado or nut or seed butter of choice – Optional
  • Sprinkle of chia seeds, flax seeds or unsweetened shredded coconut – Optional

Directions:1.) Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend until contents are mixed together and well combined. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, add more hellowater® and if you prefer a creamier, thicker smoothie, reduce the amount of hellowater® you include and potentially include more quality fat of choice.

2.) Enjoy immediately or chill in the fridge for a few minutes then top with a sprinkle of additional ingredients before serving. Think of things like banana slices, fresh berries and chia seeds, flax seeds or unsweetened shredded coconut for an added touch of crunch.
